Community Guidelines

Draft policy — pending legal review
1. Why These Guidelines Exist
Tequila & Mezcal Search (operated by Grus Drinks LLC) depends on reviews, ratings, photos and other community content being genuine and useful. These Community Guidelines set the standard for that content and supplement the Content & Intellectual Property and Acceptable Use sections of the Terms of Service.
2. What Makes a Genuine Review
- Reviews must reflect a real personal experience with the product, place or business being reviewed.
- Do not post a review for a business you own, work for, are related to, or have any other conflict of interest with.
- Do not accept payment, free product, or other compensation in exchange for a positive review, and disclose any complimentary or discounted experience that could look like an incentive.
- Do not post fake reviews on your own behalf or someone else’s, and do not organize, request, or pay for reviews from others.
- Keep reviews focused on your own experience — the product, service, atmosphere, or interaction — rather than unrelated commentary.
3. Prohibited Content
The following is not allowed anywhere on the Service, including reviews, replies, profiles and photos:
- Harassment, threats, or targeted abuse of another user, business owner, or staff member.
- Hate speech or content that attacks people based on a protected characteristic.
- Defamatory statements presented as fact that you know, or should know, to be false.
- Spam, unsolicited advertising, or content posted purely to promote an unrelated product or service.
- Off-topic content unrelated to the product, place or experience being reviewed.
- Content that discloses another person’s private information without consent.
- Content that promotes illegal activity, underage drinking, or circumventing responsible-service practices.
4. Business Responses to Reviews
Verified business accounts (producers, distributors, retailers and venues) can post one public reply per review to respond, add context, or address a concern. Replies are public and are held to the same standard as any other content under these guidelines — no harassment, no threats, and no disclosure of a reviewer’s private information.
5. Disputing a Review
Filing a dispute does not remove a review by itself, and it does not make the dispute or its details public. A verified business that believes a review is fake, abusive, or otherwise violates these guidelines can file a private dispute against it, selecting the reason that applies:
- Suspected fake review
- Abusive or harassing
- Violates review guidelines
- Something else
Disputes are reviewed by our moderation team, who may leave the review as-is, mark the dispute resolved, reject it, or remove the review where warranted. The business that filed the dispute can track its status and any resolution notes from their account.
6. Reporting Content
Any user who sees content that appears to violate these guidelines — a review, reply, profile, or photo — can report it to us using the contact details below. Please include a link or clear description of the content and the reason you believe it violates these guidelines.
7. Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, a violation of these guidelines may result in:
- A warning or request to edit the content.
- Removal of the specific review, reply, photo or other content.
- Temporary restriction on posting reviews or replies.
- Suspension or termination of the account, consistent with the Terms of Service.
We aim to apply these guidelines consistently, but we retain discretion over moderation decisions, including in cases these guidelines do not explicitly cover.
